‘The Apprentice’ is an exciting new scheme devised by the Edinburgh Quartet for exceptionally talented young string players keen to play chamber music. Its objectives are to offer the unique opportunity to experience playing in an established, professional string quartet and to ultimately provide a platform to help launch a professional career in chamber music.
‘The Apprentice’ will consist of two stages. The first will be an all-day event on Sunday 17 April 2016 at the Reid Hall, Edinburgh, where successful applicants will have the opportunity to play in place of a player from the Edinburgh Quartet on the concert platform. The sessions will be open to the public. At the end of the day, one participant will then be invited by the Edinburgh Quartet to join them for stage two and form a string quintet for a series of public concerts which will take place in July 2016.
