Event Description

‘The Apprentice’ is an exciting scheme, now in its second year, devised by the Edinburgh Quartet for exceptionally talented young string players keen to develop a career in chamber musicThis unique opportunity to play as part of an established and professional string quartet has proven to be invaluable experience and development for our previous finalists.

The day will see a selection of finalists from the UK’s top conservatoires and music colleges take the seat of one of the Quartet to perform two contrasting movements.  The most promising talent will be crowned the apprentice, and will be invited on tour with the Quartet over the course of the coming year.

The event is free, no ticket is required, and you are free to come and go as you please at suitable breaks in the auditions, which will run from 10am until 5pm approximately.  The day is split into 5 sessions, with up to 3 auditions in each session.  Each audition will last approximately 20 minutes.
