EQ Apprentice: Auditions and Free Lunchtime Recital

The Edinburgh Quartet are looking for one extraordinary string player from the UK's music colleges, universities and conservatoires to become our Apprentice for 2019.

Applications are now open, and successful applicants will be invited to a public audition day in Edinburgh, to take over one of our player's seats and perform two contrasting movements form a set repertoire list.  One winner will be chosen to join the Quartet for rehearsal, mentoring and performance opportunities throughout the year.

Join us at St. Cecilia's Hall, Niddry Street, Edinburgh, to watch and support our Apprentice finalists.  Auditions will run all day on Sunday 3 February 2019, between 10:00 - 16:30, admission is free, and audiences can come and go throughout the day.  We will publish our final audition schedule on this page, and on our social media channels.


The Edinburgh Quartet will be performing a programme of varied short movements at a free lunchtime recital, half way through the day of auditions, at St. Cecilia's Hall on Sunday 3 February 2019 at 1pm.  Admission is free, and audience members are encouraged to come along early, or stay on after the recital to support our apprentice finalists in their auditions.
